If you have children, you might be wondering what the most popular (and the least popular) kids Halloween costumes are and where to get started when it comes to cobbling together your little one’s costume. At the end of the day, you don’t want to select something that every other kid will be wearing, and you don’t want to end up forcing your child to wear an outfit that is sure to get made fun of.

When it comes down to it, kids can be ferocious little creatures, which is probably why so many love the Halloween season so much. You don’t want to give any of the other children any ammunition when it comes to making fun of your child. Instead, why not end up choosing an amazing costume that becomes the talk of the party and wins all the best prizes?

Sure, you can always go with the Harry Potter costume, but that’s been done before. Halloween costumes for kids can still be out of the ordinary -- as a matter of fact, choosing a more original costume is a great way to stand out and a surefire way to win a costume contest.

Below, we go over a few options that might serve as a suitable starting point. In the end, you’ll want to choose a costume that you and your child both feel enthusiastic about. If either one of you does not like the costume, it’s not going to be such an enjoyable experience. Halloween is meant to be a time of fun and games, so it’s important to make sure that no one feels put out over the occasion.

Lord of the Rings

Dressing your child up like a little hairy hobbit is always a recipe for fun. You can dress up as Gandalf and lead your little munchkins out of the Shire and straight through the mountains of Mordor.

You can use spirit glue to put hair on your little one’s feet -- just make sure that their skin isn’t irritated by the adhesive. If so, simply draw the hair on with a brown Sharpie and use a rag with rubbing alcohol to wipe it off after the festivities. Throw on a tunic or a hobbit or wizard robe (don’t forget the wizard hat, by the way) and you’re good to go. You can likely get all items from a store or online source.

Memorable Duos

You and your child can go as Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant and get a few laughs, especially if you cast your child as Andre the Giant. You could even go with memorable rock duos like Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, or Axel Rose and Slash.

If you want to go with a more classic duo for your child/children, maybe Lucy and Ricky (from the I Love Lucy Show). You could also go with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid as well. The world is pretty much your oyster on this one.

Marvel or DC?

If your kid is set on one of the many superhero costumes available, you’ll probably want them to pick which one they want to dress as. If you end up pulling an audible or making the call on your own, it’s going to be a surefire way to create disappointment. Unless, of course, you know your child very well and they’ve made it very vocal over the years who their favorite comic book character or superhero is, in which case you might feel more comfortable making the call. The cool thing about a superhero costume is that it can be used at events like ComiCon and other superhero-related conventions that attract massive audiences.

If you’re wanting something less cliché, it might be a good idea to steer clear of the Spiderman costume or the Wonder Woman costume, although both can be found easily at any costume store or online retailer.

Kids Halloween Costumes & More is here with an amazing selection of costumes for any occasion, no matter if you’re pulling off the goth look year-round, or if you’re looking to pull off the Harley Quinn costume this Halloween season.
