5 Alternatives to the Frozen Theme for Holiday Gifts

Posted by Justin Grainger on

This holiday season, Frozen merchandise is everywhere you look and shop. Frozen scooters, Frozen backpacks, Frozen dolls, Frozen toys, and Frozen costumes. We’re not above the Frozen fad - in fact, we embrace it - but we also know parents like you need options. That’s why we’ve compiled our list of favorite alternatives to Frozen gifts, for the child in your life who doesn’t subscribe to the Frozen craze, or just so you can instill a little variety in your gift-giving.

Peppa Pig

Peppa Pig is a surprisingly well rounded role model for young children. She is equipped with a vocabulary that suits her years, yet she uses it to successfully articulate a variety of emotions, wants, needs, and comments. Peppa has a mother, father, and brother who each also play active roles in the series shows and books, making it relatable for the whole family. Peppa costumes and gifts are a fun and educational alternative to Elsa, Anna, and Olaf gifts.

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman stunned critics and moviegoers alike when she hit the big screen in 2017. Though DC has been a bit behind the curve in fully realizing big screen adaptations of other beloved superheroes in their universe, no one can deny they broke ground with Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman costumes are a solid choice for parents looking for positive female role models for their children, to expand horizons beyond Elsa and Anna.

Descendants

Disney’s Descendants is a popular choice for many parents who become squeamish upon hearing the first few chords of Let It Go - or Into The Unknown. The animated film series reinvents the concept of Disney princesses by depicting the worlds of the daughters of famous Disney villains. While Descendants never had the box office power of Frozen, it’s a surprisingly ubiquitous favorite among young children, and a perennial top costume choice during Halloween and for every day dress up.

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel may not have had the same seminal effect as Wonder Woman during its big screen release, but nonetheless has inspired a fierce loyalty amongst adult and child fans alike. She’s got an iconic hairstyle, a 21st century outfit, and the best friends a Marvel superhero could ask for. Captain Marvel is a hero for young children who will stand the test of time.

Shuri

If we could pick one hero above all the rest to accompany Elsa and Anna underneath Christmas trees this holiday, she would be Shuri of the famed Black Panther comic book series and landmark 2018 film. Shuri is everything we could hope for in a character who emulates confidence, creativity, a dedicated work ethic, and a fierce love and loyalty for her family and friends.
