1980s: From Back to the Future to Save Ferris!

Posted by Justin Grainger on

Today on the KHC blog, we’re going back to the future in the 80s. Are you a millennial parent, really wishing you could travel back in time to the days of big hair, neon stretch pants, and movies like Back to the Future, the Breakfast Club, and Sixteen Candles? Well, look no further than our 80s themed costume section. Sure, you can find lots of costumes here for children, so you can share with them the lore of your childhood in super tight side ponytails or Flock of Seagulls style mop tops - but why not get something nostalgic for yourself, too?

There are more than a few ways you can relive that glorious decade that now officially ended thirty years ago. Why not don this Back to the Future Marty McFly wig on a random Tuesday, as a workplace gag? It’s so realistic, you’ll have to keep track of who notices and who just greets you and asks after the report that’s due soon, then moves on. Or, you could go with the classic red vest and aviator shades from our Marty McFly costume and call it your casual Friday outfit.

How about something different from Back to the Future, yet still classic 80s, you ask? Sure, we’ve got you covered there as well: try our 80s fanny pack, which is practical yet retro at the same time. Lots of people are wearing fanny packs these days without even realizing they’re a throwback to the 80s, because go figure, they’re the perfect size to store your smartphone, wallet, and keys. Why not show them how it’s really done and lean into those bright colors? Maybe you can even find a walkman at the thrift store to change up how you listen to your tunes and go analog for a few days. After all, as Ferris Bueller said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.”

On that note, our Ferris Bueller and Sloane Peterson wigs are also both pretty realistic, if you’re going for that kind of a look. And, you could probably pull off either costume at an 80s party or even when visiting for “Decade Day” at your child’s school (even better, try it if you are a teacher!). We’re especially fans of the long shorts and high white socks in the Sloane Peterson costume.
